Crochet Hook: F/4mm

Scissors

Yarn Needle

Tape Measure

Gauge: 17 stitches= 4”           16 rows= 4”

Be sure to check your gauge. I tend to crochet tighter, yours may be a little different. I highly recommend doing a test swatch before getting started.

Stitch Abbreviations:

Ch = chain

Sc = single crochet

Hdc = half double crochet

Dc = double crochet

Sp = space

St = stitch

Ss = slip stitch

Sk = skip next stitch

MR = magic ring

YO = yarn over

V st = (hdc, ch 1, hdc) all in same st.

Puff st = Insert hook into st, yo and draw through st.  *Yo and insert hook into st again. Yo and draw through st.* 3 times. You should have 8 loops on the hook. Yo and draw through all 8 loops. Ch 1. (This ch 1 is part of the st.)

Hdc2tog = Yo and insert hook into 1st st. Yo over and draw through st. Yo and insert hook into next st. Yo and draw through hook. You should have 5 loops on the hook. Yo and draw through all 5 loops.

(In this pattern, 1st st will be in the ch sp before a puff st and 2nd st will be in ch sp after puff st.)

Other info:

  • Ch 3 DOES count as DC.
  • Stitch count increases by 4 for each row.
