Autumn Dreams Beanie FREE Crochet Pattern

I don’t know about you, but I have been dreaming of all things Fall. I live in Texas and it’s still super hot throughout September. But I am not letting that stop me from bringing on the Fall vibes! I am so happy to share my newest pattern, the Autumn Dreams Beanie for FREE! I have designed this beanie to show off some of my new Fall yarn colors and I just love the color combinations.

The Autumn Dreams Beanie Pattern

This pattern is for an adult size beanie, but can be easily adjusted to make smaller or larger.

Experience Level: Beginner +

Materials:

Yarn About 180yds of worsted weight yarn.

Examples are made with:

Color A: Daisy Stitch Co Fibers Worsted in Mulled Merlot about 100 yds

Color B: Daisy Stitch Co Fibers Worsted in Harvest about 80 yds

Color A: Daisy Stitch Co Fibers Worsted in Midnight Blue about 100 yds

Color B: Daisy Stitch Co Fibers Worsted in Forest/Midnight Blue about 80 yds

Crochet Hook: H/5mm

Scissors

Yarn Needle

Tape Measure

Gauge: 16 stitches= 4”  9 rows= 4”

Be sure to check your gauge. I tend to crochet tighter, yours may be a little different. I highly recommend doing a test swatch before getting started.

Stitch Abbreviations:

St = stitch

Ch = chain

Ss = Slip stitch

Sp = space

Sk = skip st

Sc = single crochet

Hdc = half double crochet

Hdc2tog = Yarn over, insert hook into st, pull up a loop. 3 loops on hook. Yarn over, insert hook into next st, pull up a loop. 5 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.

BLO = Back loop only- work st into back loop of current st.

Puff St = Yo, insert hook into st, yo and draw through st.  *Yo and insert hook into st again. Yo and draw through st.* 3 times. You should have 9 loops on the hook. Yo and draw through all 9 loops. Ch 1. (This ch 1 is part of the st.)

Other info:

  • Chain at the beginning of a row DOES NOT count as a stitch.
  • Use your preferred method for color changes.

Band

With Color A:

Ch 9.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1. Sc in 1st st. Sc in BLO of next 6 st. Sc in last st. Turn.

Row 3-68: Repeat Row 2 until band measures 19” (or desired size) when lightly stretched.

Fold band in half and ss seam together. Turn right side out. Do not fasten off.

Body

Row 1: (Still using Color A) Ch 1. Work 68 sc evenly around band. Ss into 1st sc. (68 sc)

Row 2: With Color B, ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Ss into 1st hdc. (68 hdc)

Row 3: Ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Ss into 1st hdc. (68 hdc)

Row 4: With Color A, ch 1. Puff st in 1st st. Ch 1. Sk 1. * Puff st in next st. Ch 1. Sk 1. * Repeat from * around. Ss into 1st Puff st.. (34 puff st, 34 ch 1 sp)

Row 5: With Color B, 2 hdc in each ch 1 sp all around. Ss into 1st hdc. (68 hdc)

Row 6: Ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Ss into 1st hdc. (68 hdc)

Rows 7-15: Repeat Rows 4-6, 3 times.

Row 16: Repeat Row 4.

Row 17: With Color B, ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Ss into 1st hdc. (68 hdc)

Row 18: Ch 1. *Hdc in 1 st. Hdc2tog over next 2 st.* Repeat around. Ss into 1st hdc.

Row 19: Ch 1. Hdc2tog all around.

Fast off, leaving a long tail. Weave tail in top stitches and cinch the top.
