This pattern was created for my friend, Donna, who is a North Carolina girl through and through. Donna asked me to make a poncho for her and chose Lion Brand Scarfie yarn. Great choice! It’s so soft and easy to work with and makes up quickly. The result is a warm and cozy poncho, perfect for chilly Fall or Winter nights. How do you get this pattern? It is available for download in my Etsy and Ravelry shops. Links below. Carolina Poncho on Etsy Carolina Poncho on Ravelry How do you get Lion Brand Scarfie yarn? The Guernsey Beanie Pattern Release

I would like to introduce my newest pattern, the Guernsey Beanie. It’s my very first beanie design. I wanted to create a beanie with texture that is durable and easy to take care of. Using an easy care worsted weight yarn, this beanie is perfect for day to day wear. I chose the name because I just finished reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It’s such an inspiring story! There is a Netflix movie, too. I highly recommend both. If you are a Downton Abbey fan, half of the cast is in this movie.   I am so happy to be able to offer this pattern to you FREE here on the blog. If you prefer, there is a PDF download available for purchase on Etsy and Ravelry. *** This pattern may contain affiliate links. This is an original pattern from Daisy Stitch…

The Hawthorn Shawl Pattern Release and Mrs. Crosby Plays Yarn Giveaway

I am so excited to share my newest creation with you, the Hawthorn Shawl! My inspiration came from this amazing yarn from Mrs. Crosby Plays. I was visiting my sister, Stephanie, in Fredericksburg, TX. We went shopping in the downtown area and came across a store called, Lauren Bade. I was so happy to discover that they sold yarn! They have a beautiful selection of specialty yarns. I picked up the Mrs. Crosby Plays Carpet Bag and was sold. It’s a wool/silk blend that has a luxurious feel. I bought the Buttercup and Magnolia colorways.  When I got home and started swatching with it, I knew the splurge was worth it. This yarn is simply decadent. It’s a sport/dk weight and there are 240 yds per skein. It seemed to shout “I want to be a shawl.” That gave me the idea of a lightweight,…

The Estrella Coverup Pattern Release

I would like to introduce the Estrella Coverup Pattern! It is a FREE pattern here on my blog. This pattern features the Star Stitch.  I have been so inspired by many beautiful coverups out there and the Star Stitch works up perfectly for a lightweight airy piece. I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton yarn. This yarn is 100% mercerized cotton and works so well for coverups. It has great stitch definition and is sturdy enough for the wear and tear of swimming season. This pattern makes a coverup in sizes S/M and L/XL  It is easily adjustable to make shorter or longer. This pattern features the Star Stitch. I love the texture this beautiful stitch gives this coverup.  There is a link to a video tutorial if you are not familiar with this stitch. If you prefer an ad-free version of this pattern it is…

Friday Faves

There is so much going on out there in maker land! So many new pattern releases, CAL’s, collaborations, and more! I thought I would share just a few of my favorites for this past week.   Summer Ivy Cardi This lovely cardigan was designed by Corey of CS Handmade Crafts. Corey writes, ” I designed the Summer Ivy Cardi after not being able to find a pattern that matched what I wanted. When I saw this stitch pattern in one of my books I instantly knew what I wanted to do with it. Thus, the Summer Ivy Cardi was born. The name of the cardi is after the stitch design. It reminded me of the way ivy climbs up a garden trellis so it only seemed fitting to name it Summer Ivy Cardi.” The pattern is available on Etsy and Ravelry. This cardi is in my…

Summer Trellis Cardi Pattern Release and Giveaway!

The Summer Trellis Cardi Pattern is now LIVE! This pattern is the first wearable that I have designed. It was challenging but I really love how it turned out. Inspiration I had in mind a cardi that was lightweight, airy, and short sleeved.  I am in Texas and it gets HOT in the summer. This means everyone has their A/C’s cranked up high and it gets cold inside, so it’s nice to have something to take along with me to put on inside.  I must have tested out 5 different yarns to get the texture and weight that I wanted. I lost count of how many times I frogged this project. But it finally came together and I am so proud to share it with you! How to Get the Pattern The pattern is in my Etsy shop and…

Yarn Review: My New Friend, Flikka and FREE Bag Pattern

I have found a new favorite yarn, one of Lion Brand‘s newest creations, Flikka! I had heard and read about this yarn and was so happy to find it at my local Hobby Lobby. It’s so easy to work with! It has a multi-color strand with a natural base strand. It says it’s a 3 weight, but it’s on the heavier end of the 3 weight spectrum and works up more like a 4 weight. It is machine washable and machine dryable. The details: Weight: 3 weight Content: 50% cotton, 50% polyester Skein Weight: 3.5oz/100g skein Yards/Meters: 196 yds/179m per skein Machine washable and dryable. 11 colorways The Colors: I just love the colorways in this yarn and there are 11 to choose from. The names are great, too! The yarn I worked with is  Keepsake. It’s got pink, light blue, purple, gray, and…
